The Job:
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Herdsperson to join a well established and progressive dairy farm in Gloucestershire. The farm is home to a herd of around 600 cows, milked twice a day through a 50 point rotary parlour. The cows are housed all year round, with a strong focus on herd health, welfare and performance.
Key responsibilities:
- Day to day care and management of the dairy herd
- Monitoring herd health, fertility and welfare
- Milking and supporting the smooth running of the parlour
- Calf rearing and youngstock management
- Carrying out routine herd health and treatments
- Identifying and reporting any health or welfare concerns
- Supporting fertility and breeding programmes
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
- General dairy duties as required
The Candidate:
- Experience with milking and general dairy routines
- Good stockmanship and attention to detail
- A genuine passion for working with cattle
- A reliable and hardworking approach
- The ability to work well as part of a team
- Tractor experience would also be advantageous, although the main focus of the role will be herd management.

Candidate Requirements
All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
