The Job:

We are recruiting for an Area Sales Manager to join an established machinery dealership specialising in professional groundscare equipment.

This is a field based sales role with responsibility for developing an existing customer base, winning new business and increasing machinery sales across an allocated territory. You will work with customers across the groundscare, landscaping, amenity and grounds maintenance sectors, understanding their requirements and recommending suitable machinery and equipment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing and developing existing customer relationships while identifying new business opportunities

  • Promoting and selling a range of groundscare machinery and associated equipment

  • Visiting customers, carrying out machinery demonstrations and preparing quotations

  • Negotiating sales and managing opportunities through to delivery and aftersales follow up

  • Working towards agreed sales targets and maintaining an active sales pipeline

  • Building knowledge of the local market and identifying opportunities for growth

  • Working with the wider dealership team to support sales performance and customer service

This role would suit a commercially minded salesperson who enjoys working independently, building long-term customer relationships and winning new business. Product training will be provided for the right candidate.

The Company:

Our client is an established machinery dealership supplying quality equipment and supporting customers across the groundscare and associated machinery sectors. The business has a strong focus on customer service, technical knowledge and building lasting relationships. It offers a supportive working environment, product training and opportunities for career development.

The Candidate:

  • Previous sales experience, ideally within agricultural machinery, groundscare equipment or capital equipment sales

  • Proven ability to develop customer relationships, generate new business and achieve sales targets

  • Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills, with a professional and customer-focused approach

  • Commercial awareness and the ability to understand customer requirements and recommend suitable products

  • Self-motivated, organised and comfortable managing an allocated territory independently

  • Full UK driving licence and a genuine interest in machinery and equipment

Groundscare or agricultural machinery sales experience would be an advantage, but applications are also welcomed from candidates with relevant transferable sales experience. Knowledge of machinery finance, product demonstrations or dealership sales would be beneficial.

The Package:

  • Competitive basic salary, reviewed annually

  • Performance related bonus linked to individual and depot performance

  • Company vehicle

  • Enhanced holiday entitlement and sick pay

  • Company pension scheme and life insurance

  • Product training and ongoing professional development

  • Support from an established dealership and management team

  • Long-term career progression opportunities

  • Permanent, full time, field-based position covering an allocated sales territory

Flexibility will be required to accommodate customer visits, machinery demonstrations and occasional industry events.

All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
