Arboricultural Consultant - Cambridge / Bedfordshire / Luton area (ideally based within approximately 1 hour) - £30,000–£40,000

Level: Junior through to Experienced Consultant

The Job:

We are recruiting an Arboricultural Consultant to join an established specialist consultancy, working across Cambridge, Bedfordshire, Luton and the surrounding areas. The position is open to candidates at different stages of their career, from those looking to move into arboricultural consultancy through to experienced Consultants who are confident managing projects and producing technical reports independently.

You will undertake a varied mix of tree surveying, planning and development consultancy and tree management work, working with a broad range of clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out tree surveys and inspections across a range of sites
• Undertake BS5837 tree surveys for proposed development sites
• Prepare tree constraints information to support planning and development proposals
• Produce Arboricultural Impact Assessments
• Prepare Arboricultural Method Statements and Tree Protection Plans
• Undertake tree condition and tree risk assessments
• Advise clients on Tree Preservation Orders, Conservation Areas and protected trees
• Provide practical tree management recommendations
• Liaise with developers, architects, planning consultants, local authorities and landowners
• Produce clear, accurate technical reports and recommendations
• Organise and manage site surveys and projects appropriate to your level of experience
• Develop and maintain professional client relationships
• For experienced Consultants, take greater ownership of projects from survey through to completion

The Candidate

• Practical knowledge and understanding of arboriculture and tree management
• Good tree identification, surveying and inspection skills
• Understanding of tree condition, defects and risk assessment
• Strong communication and technical report writing skills
• Able to organise field-based work effectively and work independently
• Relevant arboricultural qualification would be beneficial
• Experience with BS5837 surveys and planning related arboriculture advantageous, particularly for experienced applicants
• Applications welcomed from Tree Surveyors, Arboricultural Consultants, Tree Officers, Utility Tree Surveyors and Arborists looking to move into consultancy
• Full UK driving licence due to the field based nature of the role

Candidate Requirements
