An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Farrowing House Operative to join a progressive pig farming business based in Wigan. This role is focused on the day to day management of the farrowing unit, ensuring high standards of animal welfare, piglet survival and overall herd performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the farrowing process, including preparation of sows and supervision during farrowing
  • Provide care for sows and piglets, ensuring optimal health and welfare
  • Monitor piglets post-birth, including fostering, processing, and early stage care
  • Administer treatments and follow health and vaccination protocols
  • Maintain accurate records of farrowing data and performance
  • Ensure high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and biosecurity within the unit
