The Role

We are recruiting for a skilled and motivated Welder / Fabricator to join a well-equipped workshop in Kendal, with occasional site-based work as required. This is a varied role, working on both bespoke and production components, combining high-quality fabrication with problem-solving and technical precision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and weld bespoke and production components to a high standard.
  • Operate engineering shop machinery including cutting, punching, folding, rolling, and bending equipment.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings; CAD experience advantageous.
  • Accurately document and record all work carried out.
  • Contribute to new design development and bespoke fabrication projects.
  • Support occasional site work to deliver customer projects.
  • Assist with component preparation and coating where required.
  • Maintain a safe, organised, and efficient workshop environment in line with H&S standards.

The Candidate

  • NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Welding.
  • Proven experience in workshop-based fabrication and welding.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality output.
  • Capable of accurate record-keeping and quality control.
  • Basic manual machining skills preferred.
  • Flexible, with a willingness to learn and contribute across workshop tasks.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of CAD systems and ability to read complex technical drawings.
  • Experience of site-based fabrication/installation.
  • Proactive problem-solving and involvement in design development.
