We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established forestry business looking to strengthen its West Coast portfolio. With a new regional presence developing in Argyll, this is an exciting opportunity to join at a key growth stage and help build a strong client base across Scotland. This role will see you managing a diverse portfolio of estate and commercial forestry for major clients, ensuring operations are delivered to the highest standards of silviculture, sustainability, safety, and commercial performance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and implementing full forest management operations
  • Delivering operational programmes in line with client objectives
  • Ensuring compliance with health & safety, environmental and regulatory standards
  • Liaising with clients, landowners and statutory bodies
  • Coordinating establishment and maintenance of conifer and mixed crops in upland settings
  • Preparing budgets, forecasts and annual reports
  • Producing UKWAS management plans and long‑term production schedules
  • Programming thinning, felling, timber assessments, marking and mensuration
  • Monitoring timber sales contract compliance
  • Supporting tender submissions and regional business development
  • Promoting the business and identifying new opportunities

The Candidate

  • Proven experience managing commercial forests, particularly in upland environments
  • Strong practical silvicultural knowledge across all stages of forest management
  • Relevant forestry or land‑based qualification
  • Sound understanding of forestry legislation and regulatory frameworks
  • Knowledge of UKFS and UKWAS standards
  • Experience with PAWS / ASNW management (desirable)
  • Understanding of grants and regulatory schemes (advantageous)
  • Professional membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters (or working towards) desirable
  • Strong IT capability (including GIS and Office 365) and a full UK driving licence are essential
