A leading UK egg production business operating within an international agricultural group is seeking an experienced senior leader to take responsibility for its UK agricultural and poultry operations. This is a key strategic appointment for a highly capable Chief Agriculture & Poultry Officer to oversee large-scale production operations, drive performance and support continued growth, innovation and operational excellence across the business.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee all poultry and agricultural operations across multiple production sites
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to improve productivity, efficiency, and long-term growth
  • Deliver key production KPIs including egg quality, flock performance, mortality rates, feed efficiency, and cost control
  • Ensure full compliance with biosecurity, animal welfare, food safety, environmental, and health & safety standards
  • Oversee flock health management including vaccination, nutrition, ventilation, and lighting programmes
  • Lead, manage, and develop farm managers and operational teams to build a high-performance culture
  • Analyse production and financial data to identify improvements and drive decision-making
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimisation initiatives
  • Lead automation, modernisation, and capital investment projects across operations
  • Develop preventative and corrective maintenance strategies across sites
  • Maintain strong relationships with vets, nutritionists, auditors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies

The Candidate:

  • Degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Food Technology, Agribusiness or related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in poultry, egg production or agricultural operations
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a senior leadership role managing teams and operations
  • Strong experience within large scale commercial farming or production systems
  • Strong understanding of biosecurity, welfare standards and production KPIs
  • Proven leadership experience with ability to drive change and operational improvement
  • Analytical skills with ability to interpret production and financial data
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Willingness to travel regularly between UK sites and internationally when required

Candidate Requirements:

All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
