A well‑established 2,000‑acre arable farm in Yorkshire is seeking an experienced Lead Operator to join a small full‑time team. This is a hands‑on role for someone who takes pride in operating and maintaining machinery to a high standard and enjoys being part of a close‑knit farming operation. Working alongside the Farm Manager, you will play a key role in delivering the farm’s cropping programme and ensuring day‑to‑day operations run smoothly throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operating modern arable machinery including tractors, drills, cultivators and combines
  • Sprayer operation throughout the cropping season
  • Combine driving during harvest
  • Machinery setup, maintenance and routine servicing
  • Grain handling and grain store work during harvest
  • Supporting general farm maintenance and occasional building work
  • Working as part of a small, dedicated farm team

The Candidate

  • Proven experience in arable farming operations
  • Confident operating sprayers and combines
  • PA1, PA2 and PA6 certificates required
  • Strong mechanical understanding and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and take responsibility for tasks
  • A practical, reliable approach with a willingness to work longer hours during busy periods

Package

  • About 40 hours per week during winter months
  • 60+ hours per week during harvest and peak seasonal periods, with overtime paid
  • Hourly rate £16.00 – £17.50 DOE
  • 2 bedroom cottage available as part of the package

Candidate Requirements

  • All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for.
  • Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
