We are seeking an experienced Agricultural Workshop Technician to join our team at Home Farm, Nacton on a 6 month contract starting in April. The role is focused on supporting machinery maintenance, breakdowns, and repairs throughout the busy harvest season, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient operation of farm equipment. This is a hands-on, practical role suited to someone with strong mechanical knowledge and experience working in an agricultural or similar environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out repairs, servicing and maintenance on a range of agricultural machinery
- Respond promptly to machine breakdowns, particularly during harvest
- Diagnose and fault find mechanical, hydraulic and basic electrical issues
- Support preventative maintenance to reduce downtime during peak periods
- Work both in the workshop and in the field as required
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with farm procedures
- Communicate clearly with farm management regarding machinery condition and repairs
The Candidate
- Proven experience as an Agricultural Engineer / Workshop Technician / Mechanic
- Strong mechanical knowledge of tractors, harvest equipment and farm machinery
- Ability to diagnose and repair machinery efficiently under pressure
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a wider farm team
- Good awareness of health & safety practices
- Flexible and reliable, particularly during busy harvest periods
The Package
- Start: April 2026
- Duration: 6 months (harvest support)
- Salary - Flexible and negotiable DOE
- Hours: Full-time, with flexibility during peak harvest periods
