An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and hands-on Farm Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a diverse farming enterprise. Working closely with the Operations Director and wider management team, you will take responsibility for crop production, machinery management, compliance and the leadership of permanent and seasonal staff. This role also involves supporting a visitor-facing farming environment, ensuring operations are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of crop production across the farm
  • Plan and deliver annual cropping programmes, including irrigation, fertiliser applications and crop protection
  • Ensure full compliance with agricultural legislation, assurance schemes and accurate farm record keeping
  • Oversee the maintenance, servicing and management of farm machinery, equipment and tools
  • Lead, organise, and develop permanent and seasonal farm staff
  • Prepare customer-facing farming areas to a consistently high standard
  • Prepare agricultural grant and subsidy applications
  • Monitor production costs and work alongside the finance team to maximise profitability
  • Coordinate daily farming activities with other departments across the wider business

The Candidate:

  • Proven experience managing commercial crop production, including planning, machinery and agricultural compliance
  • Strong knowledge of Integrated Crop Management (ICM), GAECs, SMRs and modern farming practices
  • Experience leading permanent and seasonal farm teams with excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Confident managing machinery, agricultural inputs, budgets and operational performance
  • Good IT skills, with experience using farm management or business software considered advantageous
  • Relevant agricultural qualifications or practical experience, with PA certificates, forklift, first aid or chainsaw qualifications beneficial
