Salary: £32,500 + overtime (time and a half) + benefits. We are working with a well-established and growing business within the renewable energy and waste sector who are looking to recruit a General Operative to join their team at an anaerobic digestion (AD) facility. This is a hands-on role suited to someone practical and reliable, ideally with a background in agriculture, waste or plant operations. You’ll play a key part in the day-to-day running of the site, helping ensure everything operates safely, efficiently and in line with environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Safe receipt, tipping, and processing of food waste deliveries
- Operating plant and machinery including telehandlers (and forklifts where required)
- Supporting the smooth running of the AD process to meet site targets
- Carrying out routine maintenance checks and basic repairs
- Maintaining high standards of site cleanliness and general housekeeping
- Assisting with site records, compliance, and basic IT systems
- Working closely with drivers, colleagues, and site management
Candidate Profile
- Practical and hands-on with a good mechanical aptitude
- Background in agriculture, waste, or a similar environment preferred
- Comfortable working outdoors and in a regulated environment
- Basic IT skills (Excel/Word)
- Telehandler ticket desirable (training may be available)
- Strong awareness of health, safety, and environmental standards
