An excellent opportunity has arisen for a General Farm Worker to join a progressive mixed beef and arable enterprise in South West Scotland. This is a varied, hands-on role suited to an enthusiastic all-rounder looking to be fully involved across both livestock and arable operations. Working as part of a small, supportive team you will assist with the day-to-day running of a suckler herd and finishing unit, alongside supporting the arable enterprise throughout the seasons.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assisting with all aspects of stock work
  • Supporting the main stockman, particularly during calving
  • Routine treatments and vaccinations
  • Weighing and sorting cattle
  • Identifying and treating sick or lame animals
  • Feeding and bedding cattle
  • Round baling
  • Hauling grain from the combine
  • Rowing up straw and carting bales during harvest
  • Mowing and hauling during silage season
  • Slurry spreading (tanker work)
  • Rolling
  • Telehandler operations

The Candidate:

  • Previous livestock experience (beef preferred)
  • Confident and competent tractor driver
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Hard-working, reliable and enthusiastic
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
