The Job
- Work closely with the Head Greenkeeper to manage daily operations, maintain championship standards, and support team development.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in daily management and maintenance of the golf course and surrounding grounds.
- Ensure the course consistently meets championship presentation and playing standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, roughs, and irrigation systems.
- Support planning and delivery of aeration programmes, top dressing operations, turf renovation projects, and seasonal maintenance activities.
- Monitor turf health and proactively identify and address potential issues.
- Supervise, motivate, and support the greenkeeping team.
- Allocate daily tasks and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
- Assist with training and development of team members.
- Promote a positive and collaborative working environment.
- Ensure safe and effective operation of maintenance machinery and equipment.
- Support compliance with health & safety legislation and industry best practice.

- Previous experience within a senior Greenkeeper, Deputy Head Greenkeeper, or similar sports turf management role.
- Strong knowledge of turf management, horticultural practices, and golf course maintenance operations.
- Experience supervising, motivating and developing teams within a grounds maintenance or sports turf environment.
- Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills.
- Strong understanding of health & safety requirements and safe working practices.
- Experience operating and maintaining a range of greenkeeping machinery and equipment.
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Greenkeeping, Sports Turf or related discipline desirable.
- PA1, PA2 and PA6 certificates advantageous.
- Experience working on championship or high‑profile golf courses beneficial.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems and maintenance practices desirable.
- Passion for delivering exceptional playing surfaces and presentation standards.
