The Job:

We are looking for a Service Technician to provide installation, maintenance and technical support for specialist equipment at customer sites across the UK. This is a practical, customer-facing role involving fault-finding, servicing and repairs, with a strong focus on keeping equipment operating reliably and minimising downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, commission and service equipment at customer sites throughout the UK
  • Carry out planned maintenance, inspections and routine servicing to maintain equipment performance
  • Diagnose and repair faults across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Use technical drawings, schematics and service information to identify and resolve equipment issues
  • Provide customers with guidance on equipment operation and basic maintenance, both on-site and remotely where appropriate
  • Complete service reports, maintenance records and customer documentation accurately
  • Identify requirements for spare parts, repairs, upgrades and preventative maintenance
  • Support equipment refurbishment, modification and improvement projects
  • Work closely with engineering, technical support and project teams to resolve customer issues efficiently
  • Represent the business professionally and maintain strong working relationships with customers
  • Follow all relevant health, safety and quality procedures

The Company:

An established international engineering business supplying specialist equipment and technical solutions to customers across a range of industries, including food processing. The business provides ongoing installation, maintenance and technical support, with this role offering the opportunity to work on varied equipment and customer sites throughout the UK.

The Candidate:

  • Previous experience as a Service Technician, Field Service Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or similar, ideally servicing industrial machinery or equipment
  • Strong practical knowledge across mechanical and electrical systems, with experience of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment also advantageous
  • Confident with fault finding and problem-solving, with the ability to work from technical drawings, schematics and service documentation
  • Engineering or maintenance qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent hands‑on industry experience
  • Customer focused with good communication skills and the confidence to provide technical advice and explain issues clearly
  • Organised and self motivated, able to work independently in a field-based role while contributing effectively to a wider technical team
  • Good IT and administration skills, with the ability to complete service records and reports accurately
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across the UK, including occasional overnight stays, weekend work and emergency call outs

Candidate Requirements

All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
