Job Description Assistant Herdsperson - Dairy Farm \n This role is not eligible for UK Visa Sponsorship - the successful applicant must have existing Right to Work in the UK. \n Do you have practical experience working with dairy cattle or within a livestock farming environment? \n Are you looking for an Assistant Herdsperson position where you can develop your skills and progress within a supportive farming team? \n Location of the Job: \n Gloucestershire \n Salary & Benefits Package: \n £30,000 - £34,000 (depending on experience) \n Approximately 42-45 hours per week, including alternate weekend working \n Potential accommodation available \n Training and development opportunities \n Long-term opportunity within a progressive family farming business \n About the Company: \n Our client is an established family-run farming business in Gloucestershire, operating both dairy and beef enterprises. \n The dairy unit comprises approximately 280 milking cows using a modern robotic milking system, alongside a substantial beef enterprise. \n The business has an established team and is looking to recruit an Assistant Herdsperson who can become an important part of the dairy operation, with the opportunity to continue developing their practical and technical skills. \n Assistant Herdsperson - The Job Role Details: \n An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Herdsperson to join a progressive dairy farming business in Gloucestershire. \n Working as part of an established team, you will support the day-to-day care, health and welfare of the dairy herd, undertaking a varied range of practical livestock duties. \n This position would particularly suit somebody with a grounding in dairy or livestock farming who is keen to develop their experience. You do not need to be an experienced Herd Manager, as the business is happy to train and develop the right individual. \n With a robotic milking system in place, this is a modern dairy operation offering a different working pattern to a traditional parlour-based dairy system. \n • Assist with the day-to-day care, health and welfare of the dairy herd \n • Carry out calf rearing and youngstock duties \n • Assist with TMR feeding and general feeding duties \n • Monitor cows and support the effective operation of the robotic milking system \n • Identify and report any herd health or welfare concerns \n • Carry out general livestock husbandry and routine farm duties \n • Assist with AI and foot trimming where experienced \n • Maintain high standards of animal welfare, cleanliness and biosecurity \n • Work closely with the wider farm team to ensure the smooth running of the dairy unit \n • Maintain a safe and tidy working environment \n • Ensure all work is carried out in line with Health & Safety procedures \n Essential Candidate Skills & Experience: \n • Previous practical dairy, cattle or livestock experience \n • Experience and confidence working with livestock \n • Genuine interest in developing a career within dairy farming \n • Reliable, practical and willing to learn \n • Good communication and teamwork skills \n • High standards of animal welfare \n • Full UK driving licence \n • Ability to work alternate weekends as part of the normal working rota \n Desirable: \n • Calf rearing experience \n • TMR feeding experience \n • Experience with robotic milking systems \n • AI experience \n • Foot trimming experience \n How to Apply: \n Please click on the “apply now” button.
