A great opportunity for someone who knows farming and knows sales. Are you an experienced agricultural sales professional with a strong understanding of livestock farming? Perhaps you're already working within animal feed, nutrition, agricultural supplies or a related sector, and you're looking for a role where you can take ownership of a territory, build long-term customer relationships and have a genuine impact on business growth.

We're looking for an ambitious Area Sales Manager to manage and develop an established territory across the Midlands for an established farm animal feed business. This is a field-based role with a strong focus on dairy, beef and livestock customers, combining commercial sales activity with a consultative approach to supporting farmers.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and growing an established customer base across the Midlands.
  • Developing strong, long-term relationships with dairy, beef and other livestock producers.
  • Identifying and winning new business within your territory.
  • Understanding individual farm businesses, production systems and customer requirements.
  • Providing commercially focused feed and nutritional recommendations.
  • Working towards agreed sales, margin and customer-retention targets.
  • Conducting regular on-farm visits and customer reviews.
  • Monitoring customer performance and identifying opportunities to increase account value.
  • Working alongside technical and nutrition colleagues to deliver appropriate solutions.
  • Providing accurate sales forecasts and market intelligence.
  • Keeping up to date with developments across livestock farming, feed markets and agricultural policy.
  • Representing the business at agricultural events, meetings and industry activities.
  • Maintaining accurate records of customer activity, opportunities and sales performance.

What we're looking for:

  • Someone who is comfortable talking to farmers, understands the realities of livestock production and enjoys the commercial side of agriculture.
  • Experience selling into the agricultural or livestock sector.
  • A good understanding of dairy, beef and/or other farm animal production systems.
  • Strong commercial awareness and a proven ability to develop sales.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
  • The confidence to work independently across a field-based territory.
  • A consultative approach to selling rather than a purely transactional one.
  • Good planning and organisational skills.
  • The ability to understand customer needs and translate them into commercially viable solutions.
  • A genuine interest in farming and the agricultural industry.
  • A formal qualification in agriculture, animal science, nutrition or a related discipline would be advantageous, but relevant practical and commercial experience will be equally valued.

Why join?

This is an opportunity to join an established agricultural business where you'll have real ownership of your territory and customer relationships. You'll have the freedom to manage your diary, develop your own pipeline and build relationships within the farming community, while having the backing of experienced technical and commercial teams.

You’ll also benefit from:

  • £40,000 - £50,000 basic salary, depending on experience.
  • Performance-related bonus or commission.
  • Company vehicle and business mileage/fuel support.
  • Competitive benefits package.
  • Home-based / field-based working.
  • Ongoing technical and commercial support.
  • Opportunities for career development.
  • A genuinely varied role working directly with farmers and agricultural businesses.

The ideal next move?

If you're commercially driven, understand livestock farming and enjoy being out on farm rather than behind a desk, this could be an excellent opportunity to take the next step in your agricultural sales career. Whether your background is in feed, nutrition, agricultural merchanting or another livestock-focused environment, we'd be interested in having a confidential conversation. Apply now for a confidential discussion about the opportunity.
