Location of the Job: East Yorkshire Salary & Benefits Package: £35,000 - £40,000 depending on experience Accommodation available - to be discussed Approximately 45 hours per week Varied beef, tractor and mixed farming responsibilities Long-term opportunity with potential for increased responsibility as the business develops About the Company: Our client is an established family-run mixed farming business based in East Yorkshire, with a predominantly beef-focused enterprise alongside arable cropping. The farm currently runs approximately 300 beef cattle, with the potential to increase numbers in the new year. The business also grows potatoes and other produce crops and has plans to further develop. This is a varied, hands-on position combining beef cattle husbandry, TMR feeding, tractor driving and general farm work. Longer term, there may also be an opportunity for the right person to take greater responsibility as the farming business and livestock enterprise develop. Beef Stockperson / Tractor Driver - The Job Role Details: An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Beef Stockperson / Tractor Driver to join this established family-run mixed farming business. You will play an important role in the day-to-day care, feeding, health and welfare of the beef cattle, alongside tractor and machinery work across the wider farm. The position would suit somebody practical, dependable and confident who is comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for getting jobs done properly. Beef experience is essential. The farm also has a mixed/arable element, so previous experience of cultivations, irrigation or wider arable work would be beneficial. Additional farm support is available three days per week for duties including bedding up, TB testing and other general jobs. Key Responsibilities: Carry out the day-to-day care, health and welfare of approximately 300+ beef cattle Carry out TMR feeding and operate the mixer wagon Manage routine livestock feeding, increasing from once to twice daily during the winter period as required Carry out general cattle husbandry, handling and routine livestock duties Identify and respond appropriately to livestock health and welfare concerns Operate tractors and agricultural machinery safely and competently Assist with ploughing, cultivations and other tractor work according to experience Support irrigation work across potatoes and other crops Assist with seasonal mixed farming and arable operations Carry out general farm maintenance and practical duties as required Work alongside the farm owners and additional part-time farm support to ensure the smooth running of the business Maintain high standards of animal welfare, cleanliness and biosecurity Maintain a safe, clean and tidy working environment Ensure all work is carried out in line with Health & Safety procedures Essential Candidate Skills & Experience: Previous practical beef cattle experience Good cattle handling and general livestock husbandry skills Competent tractor driving and agricultural machinery experience Confidence working independently and using your own initiative A practical, mature, reliable and proactive approach to work Good awareness of livestock health, welfare and biosecurity Willingness to take responsibility and contribute to the wider running of the farm Full UK driving licence and own vehicle A genuine interest in securing a long-term position within the farming business Desirable Skills & Experience: TMR feeding and mixer wagon experience Ploughing and cultivation experience Previous mixed farming or arable experience Irrigation experience Experience working with potato or pea crops Practical machinery maintenance and basic repair skills Experience operating a range of tractors and agricultural machinery Experience taking responsibility within a livestock or mixed farming enterprise How to Apply: Please click on the "apply now" button.
