The business has already established its pilot operation with plans for the first milking season in 2026, before scaling to partner farms across the UK.
The Job Role Details:
You will be responsible for managing the pilot dairy flock, leading day‑to‑day operations, and supporting the setup of the first milking and processing systems. This hands‑on role blends livestock management, system design, and research as the business develops and refines its regenerative dairy model. This position would suit either an experienced sheep manager or a dairy cow specialist seeking to apply their dairy management skills within a forward‑thinking regenerative farming context.
Core Duties:
- Oversee and manage the shepherding team, assisting with animal husbandry (vaccinations, worming, flock health and welfare)
- Develop and coordinate on‑farm milking and milk processing systems
- Manage and record livestock and production data (AgriWebb or similar platforms)
- Maintain farm and milking equipment to a high operational standard
- Undertake regular professional development and external learning
Growth & Development:
- Develop secondary flocks to ensure year‑round milk continuity
- Trial mobile milking units to align flock movement with forage and grazing plans
- Explore and develop secondary product streams – meat, wool, breeding, and direct‑to‑consumer opportunities
- Support diversification projects such as on‑farm processing, cold storage, and educational activities
Shared Farm Responsibilities:
- Support machinery development and innovation to improve farm efficiency
- Engage with visitors, stakeholders, and investors to communicate the business’s regenerative vision
- Support environmental scheme maintenance and compliance
- Manage and maintain relevant accreditation standards (Red Tractor, Leaf, Regenagri, PFLA, Organic etc.)
Ideal Candidate Skills & Qualifications:
- Demonstrable experience in sheep or dairy cow management
- Knowledge of regenerative, pasture‑based, or low‑input livestock systems
- Dairy system experience (sheep, cow, or goat) highly beneficial
- Strong data management and attention to detail
- Practical, adaptable, and collaborative approach with excellent communication skills
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage operations effectively
- Agricultural qualifications preferred but not essential
Working Hours:
- Full‑time position
- Flexibility required during key seasonal and lambing/milking periods
