The successful candidate will help shape an innovative dairy system based on pasture‑fed, outdoor‑managed livestock while contributing to research, innovation, and product development.

About the Company:

Our client is a pioneering regenerative farming business developing a new integrated livestock and dairy model that combines high animal welfare, soil health, and nutritional food production. The enterprise is committed to delivering high‑quality dairy products through sustainable, pasture‑based systems that regenerate soil and support biodiversity. Their mission focuses on:

  • Regenerating soil health
  • Producing high‑nutritional‑value food for human consumption
  • Maximising margin and minimising risk through system resilience

The business has already established its pilot operation with plans for the first milking season in 2026, before scaling to partner farms across the UK.

The Job Role Details:

You will be responsible for managing the pilot dairy flock, leading day‑to‑day operations, and supporting the setup of the first milking and processing systems. This hands‑on role blends livestock management, system design, and research as the business develops and refines its regenerative dairy model. This position would suit either an experienced sheep manager or a dairy cow specialist seeking to apply their dairy management skills within a forward‑thinking regenerative farming context.

Core Duties:

  • Oversee and manage the shepherding team, assisting with animal husbandry (vaccinations, worming, flock health and welfare)
  • Develop and coordinate on‑farm milking and milk processing systems
  • Manage and record livestock and production data (AgriWebb or similar platforms)
  • Maintain farm and milking equipment to a high operational standard
  • Undertake regular professional development and external learning

Growth & Development:

  • Develop secondary flocks to ensure year‑round milk continuity
  • Trial mobile milking units to align flock movement with forage and grazing plans
  • Explore and develop secondary product streams – meat, wool, breeding, and direct‑to‑consumer opportunities
  • Support diversification projects such as on‑farm processing, cold storage, and educational activities

Shared Farm Responsibilities:

  • Support machinery development and innovation to improve farm efficiency
  • Engage with visitors, stakeholders, and investors to communicate the business’s regenerative vision
  • Support environmental scheme maintenance and compliance
  • Manage and maintain relevant accreditation standards (Red Tractor, Leaf, Regenagri, PFLA, Organic etc.)

Ideal Candidate Skills & Qualifications:

  • Demonstrable experience in sheep or dairy cow management
  • Knowledge of regenerative, pasture‑based, or low‑input livestock systems
  • Dairy system experience (sheep, cow, or goat) highly beneficial
  • Strong data management and attention to detail
  • Practical, adaptable, and collaborative approach with excellent communication skills
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage operations effectively
  • Agricultural qualifications preferred but not essential
