An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced senior leader to join an expanding team, taking a key role in overseeing and developing woodland services across the North of England. This is a high-impact position offering the chance to influence regional growth, working closely with senior leadership to enhance commercial performance, meet financial objectives, and ensure the successful delivery of forestry and arboriculture services across a varied portfolio. Operating from a regional office base, you will lead and support a skilled team, while building strong working relationships with clients, colleagues and industry partners. The role combines strategic input, technical oversight and business development, offering a varied and rewarding challenge.
Location: Newcastle and surrounding areas.
Salary Package: £45,000 - £65,000 Basic Salary Depending on Skills and Experience + Car Allowance + Benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of developing and expanding regional forestry operations, supporting wider business growth and strategic goals.
- Build and strengthen relationships with clients while identifying new opportunities to increase market presence across the region.
- Manage financial performance, including budgeting and ensuring projects are delivered in line with commercial targets.
- Lead, support and develop team members, fostering a high-performing and collaborative culture.
- Oversee the planning and delivery of woodland management plans (WMPs) including implementing new creation projects.
- Lead Countryside Stewardship (CS HT) applications and manage grant‑funded works.
- Coordinate timber harvesting, marketing, restocking and ongoing woodland maintenance programmes.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards, woodland certification requirements and regulatory obligations.
- Lead tree safety surveys and associated works programmes.
- Support delivery of BNG, carbon offsetting and Woodland Carbon Code schemes.
- Oversee mapping, GIS and data handling and reporting.
- Allocate and monitor workloads, ensuring projects are completed to specification, on time and within budget.
- Provide technical guidance, combining specialist expertise and knowledge across forestry disciplines.
- Promote a culture of high standards, accountability and continuous improvement within the team.
- Represent the business within the wider industry, building networks and enhancing reputation.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to deliver integrated, client-focused solutions.
- Set clear objectives in line with business strategy and measure and manage performance against these.
Key Management Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular 121 meetings, hold team meetings and complete probationary, interim and annual appraisals as per company guidance.
