It has a long history dating back to 1893 and is recognised for its practical, hands‑on learning and industry‑relevant courses in agriculture, horticulture, animal and equine studies, and related land‑based subject courses, for learners aged 16 to 18, adult learners, undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Work with modern farm machinery, deliver hands-on projects, and support apprentices as they develop real-world engineering expertise. No formal teaching qualification? Play a vital role in shaping the future workforce of agricultural engineering. An exciting opportunity for an experienced Land-Based Service Engineer / Technician (Agricultural Service Engineer/Technician) to join their engineering team, delivering the CNH Level 2 and Level 3 Land-Based Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Programme. In this role, you will work alongside three highly experienced, time-served engineering lecturers, who together bring over 150 years of industry experience. The team is passionate about delivering outstanding teaching and inspiring the next generation of agricultural technicians.

Location: East of England

Salary: £35,000 basic (dependent on skills and experience)

What You'll Do:

  • Support live student projects, including tractor and machinery servicing, repairs, and overhauls
  • Help create teaching aids, such as wiring boards, cut-away gearboxes, engines, and other practical learning models
  • Keep machinery, tools, and resources ready and maintained for every session
  • Assist with workshop operations, including tool control, equipment maintenance, stock management, cleanliness, and H&S compliance
  • Transport apprentices (minibus driving) and attend CNH technical training alongside them
  • Develop and deliver teaching content in areas you feel confident in
  • Engage in your own technical, educational, and professional development, including opportunities to gain teacher training qualifications

Who We're Looking For: You'll have a strong interest and background in agricultural and/or service engineering, including experience with agricultural machinery, vehicles, plant machinery, horticultural machinery, or welding/fabrication. You'll hold GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) and a vocational qualification at NVQ Level 4 or equivalent. A teaching qualification is not required to start, making this an ideal opportunity for someone looking to transition into teaching or progress their career in agriculture or engineering. If you already hold or are willing to work towards a teaching qualification within a year, that's a bonus!
