We have an exciting opportunity for a Night Hygiene Manager to join our team at Agrial Fresh Produce in Wigan, WN5 0LB. The role involves leading and managing the Night Hygiene team to ensure that the factory is clean and ready for food production ensuring that the highest food safety criteria is met. The role will work with the management team to ensure products meet the required food safety, integrity, legal and quality standard and specifications by achieving high levels of hygiene and ensure all hygiene employees are trained.
Working hours: Monday-Friday, 45 hours per week (with 1 hour unpaid lunch break), 22:00- 07:00
Pay: Up to £44772 per annum
Main Responsibilities- Organise, manage and oversee the Night Hygiene Team to ensure adequate resources are deployed to deliver completion of hygiene schedules in accordance with procedure and specification.
- Provide direction, motivation and support through management and leadership to all team members.
- Monitor the Night Hygiene Team to ensure they comply with procedures in line with the Quality Manual, HACCP system and chemical handling.
- Audit progress at end of shift to ensure all plant and equipment is ready and prepared for production and that all required paperwork is completed correctly and accurately in a timely manner.
- Manage the departmental budget to ensure the department performs within budget constraints.
- Monitor and maintain the supply of cleaning materials, ensuring all protective clothing and equipment is provided to the team.
- Liaise with suppliers to optimise chemical cleaning and equipment.
- Keep abreast of customer guidelines on chemicals/equipment and stay ahead of the competition in the use of innovative products.
- Co-ordinate with the Engineering Team to support the upkeep and maintenance of all equipment.
- Identify and resolve routine equipment issues or defects within defined guidelines, escalating immediately when required in line with procedure.
- Support with the planning of preventative maintenance to ensure minimal disruption to hygiene schedules.
- Manage and oversee sickness absence including return to work interview and address disciplinary and grievance issues with guidance from HR.
- Challenge any underperformance through positive support, coaching, additional training when necessary, initiating formal action in accordance with procedure and guidance from HR when required.
- Ownership of all recruitment within the Night Hygiene Team in accordance with the recruitment process.
- Be responsible for temporary workers.
- Evaluate the performance of the team using the Company’s appraisal system, including personal development plans.
- Ensure the team are trained and competent in all tasks set and ongoing training needs are identified and skills and knowledge enhanced.
- Develop relationships and work alongside other departments with regards to hygiene standards across and between shifts to ensure optimum performance is achieved.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of audits/visits, ensure the team are clear on what is required of them and present documentation to support the hygiene operations.
- Respond to any audit report, corrective action summaries to ensure work is carried out to an agreed timescale and manner.
- A minimum of 3 years experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Experience of hygiene cleaning with demonstrable knowledge of leading and developing a team.
- Level 3 Food Safety, IOSH Health and Safety and Chemical Handling qualification or equivalent.
- Demonstrate knowledge of HACCP and COSHH controls.
- Confidently lead and manage people and individuals using exceptional management skills being both approachable and credible.
- Communicate effectively both in writing and verbally to influence high standards of service and delivery.
- Make quick confident decisions whilst under pressure.
