This role is a hybrid-based role working from either of our factories: Lichfield, WS13 8NF, or Wigan, WN5 0LB. You will be asked in your application which site you wish to work from.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Transport Sales Manager (BDM) to join our team at Agrial Logistics, WS13 8NF. The Business Development Sales Manager will identify, target, develop and implement effective sales strategies to drive sales growth in our Transport, Haulage and Distribution (Logistics) in the UK. This role is a sales based role where you will be out on the road most days, talking to new customers and existing customers to sell our services across the UK.
The BDM will be required to find new business opportunities by approaching new customers to sell a range of transport and logistics products and services and support and grow our existing client base. This will include the selling of load carry solutions; Full loads, Half loads and pallet storage. The role will build strong pipeline and relationships with qualified prospects through cold calling, networking, referrals, and market research. The role will cover business prospects for refrigerated transport, cold chain logistics, food distribution, or FMCG logistics customers, so experience within these areas or similar is required.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 17:00
Pay: Up to £50,000 DOE, with company car / car allowance, with potential to earn commission/bonus on performance
Main Responsibilities
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of qualified prospects through cold calling, networking, referrals, and market research.
- Arrange meetings with decision-makers and deliver tailored logistics solutions, in addition to developing lasting relationships with key stakeholders in target accounts.
- Stay ahead of market trends and competitor activity in the cold chain logistics space, in order to identify emerging markets and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition status.
- Booking and attending your own client meetings Identifying, pitching, and securing full, part-load and storage opportunities.
- Represent the company in all sales meetings, events, and conferences.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual sales reports.
- Regular travel across the UK and occasional European travel as required.
Skills and Experience Required
- A proven track record as a Sales Manager/Hunter or New Business Development Manager, within a logistics/transport company.
- Knowledge of refrigerated transport, cold chain logistics, food distribution, or FMCG logistics.
- Exceptional prospecting, negotiation, and closing skills combined with strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently, understand and analyse sales performance metrics and manage the full sales cycle.
- An existing network within food manufacturing, retail, or wholesale sectors is highly desirable.
- A drive to develop your own customer base from outreach to account management.
- Competency with Microsoft Excel and other IT systems, in order to create regular reports as well as detailed statistical analysis.
