We are working with a well-established Single Family Office in London who are looking to hire a qualified In-house Legal Counsel. The ideal candidate will have a broad understanding of legal, regulatory, and transactional matters, as issues that arise span across litigation, corporate law, compliance, and business transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage legal aspects of work undertaken within the family office, including drafting short form agreements and reviewing a wide range of documents;
- Manage legal and tax related disputes, both with the UK and internationally, including liaising with external advisors;
- Assisting in managing relationships with third party providers, including trustees, banks, financial advisors and lawyers and tax advisors. This will include addressing KYC and compliance issues;
- Working on a wide range of projects from time to time, including monitoring and restructuring holding structures to ensure tax efficiency, assisting the client with immigration issues and the purchase and sale of significant capital assets.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- A good grounding in contract law;
- A good understanding of different types of holding structures, including trusts, foundations and corporate structures;
- Previous involvement in international legal issues and tax related issues (such as may arise from the client being a non-domicile UK resident or holding assets in various jurisdictions);
- Previous experience of litigation;
- A basic grounding in accounting and financial instruments;
- 5-10 years experience of working in small family office or similar environment covering legal.
Working Conditions
- Full time job based in central London, some possibility of working from home on days when the job allows this.
- The job does not provide benefits in kind such as health insurance or pension fund.
- From time to time the job may require travelling.
