Chief Investment Officer – Single Family Office, London
Our client is a Single Family Office looking to add a senior member of staff within their established entity in London. The position will report to the CEO and include direct access to the Principals.
The family office holds an Absolute Return philosophy and invests across all asset classes, with a bias toward the US and Asia. A significant portion of the portfolio is invested in Private Equity, mainly via Funds and Joint Ventures.
Public Market investments – Bonds and Equities – are generally on a direct basis and there is also a strategic investment in Real Estate and hotels.
This is a demanding role, requiring both flexibility and full-time commitment. It will be based in the London office five days a week, with travel as required.
To be successful in this role you will likely be in a CIO or senior investment role within a Family office, with extensive experience in strategic asset allocation across multi-asset classes and especially Private Equity.
You will have a full understanding of all aspects of investments including both classical traditional liquid asset classes (Equities, Fixed Income, FX, Structures) and more alternative investments like private equity, hedge funds, and the like. You will be capable of managing proprietary investments and all the aspects of asset allocation and manager selection and be confident in leading the family through all the various stages of investments.
The ideal candidate must have proven team leadership experience.
The family is engaged and actively involved in the business and the role will also involve liaising with external stakeholders critical to the business.
Having a technical understanding is important but personal and cultural fit is of equal value to the family.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversight of the diverse investment portfolio.
- Manage the expansion of investments in both public, private, and alternative markets.
- Arrange and undertake due diligence on potential investments.
- Prepare and present financial proposals to the family.
- Explore new business opportunities for the group.
- Lead and have oversight of the Asset Allocation process.
- Lead and have oversight of the Manager Selection Process.
Qualifications/Experience:
- An applicant will have to show a steady career progression.
- The applicant must have experience in managing public and/or private equity portfolios.
- The successful candidate will have extensive experience in the investment or financial industry, with a strong preference for experience in a family office or dealing with HNW individuals.
- Finally, the successful applicant will have the flexibility to undertake a variety of duties and additional responsibilities as necessary.
