Senior Cell Validation Engineer
Location: Coventry, UK
What you will do
- Lead planning and execution of validation phases (CV, DV, PV) for lithium-ion battery cells
- Develop robust test procedures to assess performance, durability, and reliability across a range of use cases
- Analyse test data using tools like Python or MATLAB, draw conclusions, and present clear technical insights
- Implement and improve validation methodologies, including data automation and traceability
- Ensure alignment with industry standards, regulations, and customer-specific validation requirements
- Support failure investigations with structured problem-solving tools such as 8D or Six Sigma
- Maintain accurate and traceable records of all validation activities
- Work collaboratively with Cell Design, Test Operations, CAE, and Pack teams to embed validation throughout the development cycle
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior team members
What we’re looking for
Essential Experience & Skills:
- Degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline
- 3+ years of experience in lithium-ion cell development or validation
- Hands-on experience validating large-format Li-ion cells
- Proven track record developing and executing CV/DV/PV test methodologies
- Strong data analysis skills using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools
- Confident communicator, able to collaborate effectively across technical teams
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with lithium-ion cell design and DFMEA processes
- Experience with failure analysis techniques such as CT scanning, X-ray, or thermal imaging
- Knowledge of test automation platforms or validation databases
