Agratas is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons. We design, develop and manufacture high-quality, high-performance, sustainable batteries for the mobility and energy sectors. We are a scale-up business with a start-up mentality and the backing of a well-established parent company. The UK business headquarters is in the Midlands and we are currently building a battery manufacturing facility in Somerset and looking to complement, scale and grow our R&D facilities in Abingdon and Coventry with the brightest minds from within the battery and EV sector.
Agratas is currently looking for a senior Buyer to join our growing Indirect Procurement team and help build our new battery factory. You will be responsible for end-to-end procurement of Opex materials & Release of Contracts to acquire indirect goods and services required for the functioning of the Plant and business sites, as well as leading Energy and indirect goods & services category purchases. This is a hybrid working role that will be based in our Coventry office.
What you’ll do…
- Responsible for indirect purchasing of Capex/Opex goods and services for an OEM.
- Manage the sourcing portfolio, ensuring transparency in awarding contracts and PO.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for energy and utility services (electricity, gas, water, etc.) and Facility Management to support the company's operational goals and sustainability initiatives.
- Identify, evaluate, and establish strong relationships with key suppliers in the energy and utilities sector, ensuring the best pricing, service levels, and performance.
- Lead and manage the RFI, RFQ, Cost Comparison, Zero-based costing, Negotiation & awarding process.
- Establish beneficial working relationships with various internal groups across the organization, including various programs, regional/country offices, legal, finance, and others.
- Identify reliable suppliers for consumables and indirect materials such as office supplies, maintenance equipment, and other operational necessities.
- Evaluate supplier capabilities, product quality, pricing, and delivery terms to ensure optimal value for the organization.
- Negotiate contracts to acquire indirect goods and services as per business requirements and for all business sites.
- Prepare and propose cost reduction strategies and category plan to Procurement Lead.
- Proactively identify risks, and create a contingency plan to mitigate risk in Supply-chain to avoid potential issues.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Automobile Engineering.
- Proven work experience in Indirect Sourcing, mainly in OPEX function for automobile/Tech Company for Greenfield or Brown Field Project.
- Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management.
- Broad knowledge about contract finalization, knowledge about legal terms.
- Strong project management skills.
- Price trends of Pipes, Valves, fittings from Major OEM.
- Experience in working on zero-based costing for Fabrication Items.
