Purpose of the Role

Logistics and Customs Coordinator will facilitate the smooth flow of goods, manage customs clearance processes and ensure compliance of cross-border logistics operations. The role requires strong knowledge of customs and trade compliance, transport regulations and import/export best practices. The incumbent will collaborate with shippers, carriers, agencies and internal teams to ensure coordination and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to logistics activities.

This is a hybrid role based in our Bridgwater office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and implement inbound and outbound logistics activities including customs clearance, shipment tracking, and documentation review and preparation.
  • Conduct customs and trade compliance studies and monitor regulatory changes for inbound and outbound commodities (tariff classification, CoO, import/export control, documentation, and related activities).
  • Liaise with shippers to ensure trade compliance.
  • Liaise with forwarders and carriers to ensure smooth customs clearance and freight activities.
  • Oversee freight assignments and proactively follow up until completion.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to foster compliant logistics operations.
  • Collect and preserve shipping documents and freight invoices.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven extensive experience in customs and trade compliance.
  • Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage work priorities with a sense of urgency.
  • Analytical mindset with ability to analyze data and develop reports.
  • Identify, assess and report compliance risks.
  • Key Performance Indicators: regulatory compliance, audit compliance, OTIF delivery performance, freight cost budget adherence.

Desirable

  • Experience in project cargo, chemical and dangerous goods (DG) handling.
  • Customs compliance training.
