The Senior Process Engineer – NMP and Electrolyte Systems is responsible for leading the design, delivery, commissioning, and handover of NMP and electrolyte tank farm systems within our battery manufacturing processes. You will take ownership of these critical infrastructure packages, ensuring they are planned, executed, and transitioned smoothly into operational use. Working as part of a cross‑functional team, you will proactively manage technical requirements, resolve challenges efficiently, and collaborate across departments to achieve seamless integration and readiness for production.
Reporting Into The Process Engineering Manager, You Will:
- Manage the design and delivery for the NMP and electrolyte system and equipment packages in the battery manufacturing facility.
- Drive the safety analysis and ensure the design and build meets all specifications.
- Work with stakeholders to compile the protocols required for each unit process ensuring the acceptance criteria for the Installation qualification, Operational qualification and Production qualification stages.
- Adhere to the system testing schedule, providing troubleshooting, and problem‑solving support, ensuring that all systems operate according to the design and performance specifications.
- Liaise with vendors and partners to ensure the plan is clearly communicated and resourced appropriately.
- Drive a safety mindset and ensure safety rules are strictly adhered to.
- Identify and reduce risks, aiming for a flawless start‑up.
- Work with the wider matrix team to execute a SIMOPS plan.
This role is based at our facility in Bridgwater, Somerset with opportunity to work from home a couple of days a week. Business travel in the UK and overseas may also be required.

The team you’ll join:
The Process Engineering team is a dynamic group working across a range of areas such as electrode, cell assembly, FA&T (formation, ageing and testing), control and automation, manufacturing systems, digital manufacturing, process safety and logistics engineering. Being a relatively new team, you’ll play a critical part in creating processes and help building large‑scale manufacturing lines from the ground up.
What You’ll Bring:
- Knowledge of industry practices for commissioning within the chemical or similar industry (e.g. Battery, Oil/Gas, FMCG, Nuclear, Pharmaceutical).
- Familiarity with the step‑by‑step process of commissioning, from equipment installation through to system integration, functional testing, and final acceptance.
- Understanding of the operational requirements and technical specifications associated to production machinery.
- Experience of system start‑up and punch‑out completion.
- Understands safety processes related to commissioning activities e.g. Pre Start‑Up Safety Review.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations relevant to high hazard solvent systems in an industrial COMAH setting.
