Agratas is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons. We design, develop and manufacture high‐quality, high‐performance, sustainable batteries for the mobility and energy sectors. Our UK headquarters is in the Midlands. We are building a battery manufacturing facility in Somerset and expanding R&D facilities in Abingdon and Coventry.
The battery industry in the UK is rapidly developing and the Government's new Industrial Strategy has set out clear ambitions for future growth over the next ten years and beyond. Electrification is key to the country's net‐zero transition. The Government Affairs team is looking for a proactive and analytical Policy Specialist to shape Agratas' positions on key regulatory, political, and industry issues. This home‐based role requires weekly travel to London and regular travel to our locations across England.
Key Responsibility Areas- Support the Government Affairs Manager with developing policy options and new workstreams to address business and sector issues, respond to opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to influence and drive policy development and further business objectives in a cross‐cutting environment.
- Translate complex ideas and proposals into clear, impactful policy statements.
- Represent Agratas at external events, including meetings with the UK Government, regional bodies, sector organisations, trade and sector associations, and European institutions.
- Build lasting, trusting relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- Support the team to draft briefings and respond to internal and external requests.
- Monitor the policy landscape and provide impactful reports and assessments.
- Advocate Agratas' positions effectively in a complex industry and work with other Tata companies.
- Self‐starter, able to work independently, with strong organisational skills.
- Proven experience in public policy and government relations, or a related field.
- Comfortable engaging with senior colleagues across the business.
- Strong understanding of policy development, including government processes.
- Experience and detailed understanding of legislative processes.
- Excellent written and oral skills, a critical thinking mindset, and an eye for detail.
- Ability to work with complex, technical information in a changing environment.
