AGR are working closely with one of our Aberdeen-based clients who are looking to speak with Dynamic Positioning Electrical Engineers who would be willing to complete ad hoc desktop work for ongoing projects, as and when required.
Role Requirements:
- Prepare DP FMEA reports on behalf of clients β with a specific focus on electrical content
Qualifications:
- Degree in electrical engineering (or closely related discipline)
- Strong knowledge of marine/offshore electrical systems (power generation, distribution, protection, propulsion, thrusters etc.)
Core Technical Skills:
- Robust understanding of DP systems β especially electrical aspects including redundancy, segregation, UPS, bus-tie arrangements etc.
- Excellent knowledge of class and IMCA rules relating to DP FMEA systems including: IMCA M166, MSC/Circ.645, MSC.1/Circ.1580, FMEA Code of Practice
- Competence in failure analysis: Identifying single point failures, fault propagation, worst-case failure design intent and electrical failure modes
- Prior involvement in DP FMEA or FMECA preparation, review, and proving trials β in accordance with IMCA requirements
- Experience with DP2/DP3 vessel systems, especially power & propulsion
- Participation in DP annual or five-yearly trials is a strong advantage
Other Requirements:
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Strong report writing capabilities and ability to document technical findings clearly
- Attention to detail and structural analytical approach
- Can-do attitude with the ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
- Familiarity with safety standards and assurance processes in offshore/marine environments
