Contextual Overview
Agora Talent is recruiting the first in-house Senior Legal Counsel for a fast‑growing British consumer brand based in London. The role reports to the senior leadership team and works alongside an external General Counsel.
Key Eligibility Criteria
- Qualified solicitor (England & Wales).
- 5-9 years post-qualification experience (PQE).
- Prior in-house experience preferably within a consumer-focused business.
- Working knowledge of GDPR and marketing/advertising compliance.
- Ability to operate autonomously as the sole lawyer on site.
Responsibilities & Scope of Work
- Lead, negotiate and manage commercial contracts with suppliers, distributors, retail and trade customers, licensing and brand partners.
- Own data-protection and GDPR compliance across the business.
- Maintain the company risk register and advise senior leadership on mitigation.
- Manage external counsel panel (trademark, IP, specialist matters) and control legal spend.
- Prepare the business for compliance and governance requirements associated with scaling.
- Build legal function assets - templates, playbooks and processes for commercial teams.
Stipend, Compensation & Mode
Base salary range: £85,000 - £100,000 per year. Position is permanent, full-time, with a benefits package (details not specified). Hybrid work model - three days in the London office and regular travel to South West operations.
