A large, complex consumer business is looking to appoint a Senior Finance Manager into a high-profile role on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract basis. This is a broad, business-critical leadership role sitting at the heart of finance, with accountability across technical accounting, store estate accounting, balance sheet governance, statutory reporting and financial control. It would suit an experienced qualified accountant who combines strong IFRS and technical accounting expertise with the ability to lead, coach and develop a team in a complex environment.

The role:

  • Leading and developing a team of qualified and part-qualified finance professionals
  • Owning technical accounting advice and judgement across retail, property and wider group activity
  • Leading store estate accounting, including lease events, store closures, impairments, onerous contracts and provisions
  • Taking ownership of balance sheet integrity, statutory reporting and financial controls
  • Supporting robust governance, audit readiness and high-quality financial outcomes
  • Partnering with finance and non-finance stakeholders to provide clear accounting guidance
  • Driving automation, process improvement and scalable reporting solutions using tools such as Alteryx and Excel

This is not a purely hands-on reporting role. The brief is for someone who can act as a strong reviewer, coach and technical lead, while also bringing the gravitas to deal effectively with senior stakeholders.

We are keen to hear from candidates with:

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualification or equivalent
  • Significant post-qualified experience in a large, complex business
  • Strong technical accounting and IFRS knowledge
  • Experience in property/store estate accounting
  • Exposure to impairments, DCF modelling, lease accounting and accounting judgements
  • Strong background in balance sheet control, statutory reporting and governance
  • Proven people leadership and coaching capability
  • Advanced Excel skills, with Alteryx or similar automation tools highly desirable

The ability to translate technical accounting issues into practical business recommendations.
