Are you looking for a broad, impactful Financial Reporting role in a Listed, International Retail Group? This is a stand-out opportunity within one of the fastest-growing Retailers in the world; primarily due to the breadth and exposure you'll get. The Group Finance team is lean; so you'll have exposure across all accounting, technical and reporting matters. The role is also heavily involved in the Group audit process as well as a variety of Group-wide projects, so you'll have significant external focus with external advisors.

Reporting into the Head of Group Reporting, you'll have direct access to the Board, Investor Relations, senior stakeholders across the OpCos, & external advisors.

The Group has recently implemented Oracle ERP and an FCCS reporting tool - this role will be pivotal to ensure the set-up of strong group reporting processes, alongside improving the group consolidation process for both statutory audit and filing requirements, and monthly management purposes to satisfy the shareholder and internal reporting requirements.

Although the key parts of the role will focus on 'Business as Usual', there are a number of ongoing projects such as implementing an IFRS 16 lease reporting tool, a Group Accounting Policy Manual and a single chart of accounts across the Group, and improvements in month end close processes and financial reporting. The role will naturally get involved in these ongoing projects but if you're keen and able to take on additional responsibilities you can play a leading role in these projects.

You will...

  • Prepare the annual and half year financial reporting requirements for the Group
  • Ensure monthly consolidation adjustments are performed accordingly
  • Support in the improvement of the Group month-end close process
  • Prepare key Group level accounting items and judgements (impairment reviews, adjusting items, segmental information, share schemes.)
  • Maintain the Group Accounting Policy Manual and Chart of Accounts to ensure these are regularly updated and communicated to the rest of the Group.
  • Support with technical accounting training for the rest of the Group.
  • Build strong relationships with the Head of Group Reporting, Group Financial Controller and the Divisional CFOs/ Financial Controllers and teams within the operating companies.
  • Support and/or lead key cross-finance projects across the Group
  • Support the Group with technical accounting advice to support investments and new initiatives.
  • Develop best practice procedures and improvements with a focus on automation and data analytics.
  • Assist with preparation of Audit Committee papers
  • Support on production and analysis of Group cash flow and balance sheet
  • Management of the external audit process
  • Supporting the Annual Report and Interim process
  • Supporting Investor Relations and Group FP&A in the preparation of Results Presentations
  • Preparing the quarterly Group entity reporting to the Bank

About you...

  • ACA Qualified - ideally 5 years + PQE
  • Strong technical understanding of IFRS
  • A strong understanding of the requirements of operating in a public company, familiar with the latest developments in relevant accounting standards and Corporate Reporting, including ESG reporting.
  • Knowledge / experience of working with financial systems (preferably Oracle FCCS)
  • Excellent academics from a top university

Other information ...

  • Hybrid working – expectation of being in the office 3 days per week as a minimum (flex on which days)
  • International travel may be involved, to facilitate collaboration with local teams
