Finance Recruitment Consultant – Retail and Consumer BrandsAre you ready to build and own a finance function inside a profitable, purpose-driven consumer brand?

We\’re working with a founder-led, bespoke retail business at a pivotal stage of its journey. With revenues of c.£15m today and a clear path to £50m, the business has grown quickly, profitably, and without external funding – and is now investing in strengthening its internal foundations.

This newly created Financial Controller role is the first senior in-house finance hire as the company continues its impressive growth journey. As growth accelerates domestically and internationally, the leadership team wants a senior finance professional who can take full ownership of reporting, controls, and systems, and help future-proof the function.

Reporting into senior leadership with regular Board exposure, this is a hands‐on role with genuine influence, ideal for someone who enjoys improving how finance operates, not just keeping the lights on.

What will you be doing?

Owning the monthly and quarterly management reporting cycle, delivering accurate, insightful reporting

Producing clear analysis and commentary for founders and senior stakeholders

Leading budgeting and forecasting across a growing, multi‐channel business

Strengthening financial controls, processes, and reporting frameworks as the company scales

Driving efficiencies through automation and smarter use of systems

Managing and developing the in‐house finance team

Taking primary responsibility for payroll and VAT reporting

Supporting strategic projects, including international expansion and operational scale

Playing a key role in audit readiness ahead of the company\’s first year‐end audit (June/July)

What would we love to see from you?

Qualified with 5+ years\’ PQE

Strong financial and management reporting background in consumer/product focused SMEs

Proven experience improving processes, systems and upgrading finance functions

Confident engaging with founders, senior leadership, and Board-level stakeholders

Commercially astute with strong analytical instincts

Comfortable operating with autonomy and holding your own at senior level

Location: Hertfordshire (Hybrid – 3 days per week in office)
