This is a Senior Associate role for a trust and private client lawyer who wants real responsibility. Based in Guernsey, the International Trusts & Private Client team advises international families, family offices and intermediaries on complex non-contentious trust structuring and private wealth matters, working closely with corporate and disputes colleagues on sophisticated cross-border mandates. The practice handles technically demanding work spanning trust establishment and restructuring, wealth and succession planning, family office advisory and trust-related private funds matters. The team operates as a genuinely integrated offshore platform, offering exposure to high-value, multi-jurisdictional instructions rather than siloed local work.

Key responsibilities

  • Advising on non-contentious trust law, private wealth structures and related regulatory considerations
  • Drafting structuring advice, legal opinions and transactional documentation
  • Acting as a day-to-day contact for clients, intermediaries and family offices
  • Managing matters efficiently with minimal supervision and clear commercial judgement
  • Supporting junior lawyers through informal mentoring and knowledge sharing
  • Contributing to business development through client initiatives, events and written content

Candidate profile

  • 5+ years’ PQE gained within a strong private client or trusts practice
  • Common law qualified (E&W, Australia, New Zealand or similar)
  • Solid experience advising on non-contentious trust matters, structuring or wealth planning
  • STEP qualification, or a genuine intention to pursue, viewed favourably
  • Strong drafting skills, sound judgement and the confidence to take ownership of work
  • Collaborative, low-ego approach suited to an integrated offshore team

This is not a back-office role. The successful lawyer will be trusted with meaningful client contact from the outset, expected to run matters with appropriate autonomy and contribute to the quality and direction of advice, while working closely with partners on complex structuring and advisory work. A competitive financial package is offered while there is genuine career progression on the table.
