Requirements

  • A minimum of 12 months right to work in the UK
  • Management qualification at QCF level 4 or equivalent, or a willingness to work toward this qualification
  • QCF level 4 or higher in Health & Social Care, or equivalent
  • Previous registration in a home care service preferable
  • Demonstrable, up-to-date knowledge of the care sector, including running a home care service and the regulatory framework
  • Excellent leadership and management skills
  • Experience working with vulnerable client groups

Day-to-day responsibilities

  • Ensure all clients understand the care and treatment choices available to them and that care is provided in a way that promotes choice, dignity and individuality
  • Review existing care provision to ensure it meets current physical and mental health needs, liaising with clients, internal staff, health professionals, social workers and other parties to adapt plans
  • Ensure rigorous auditing to understand the quality of services and take rapid remedial action if concerns arise
  • Maintain effective risk assessments to protect client needs
  • Induct new staff and ensure existing staff are regularly trained, motivated, supervised and supported
  • Handle disciplinary or formative action against team members as necessary
  • Effectively staff the service to cover client needs and maintain contingency plans for unexpected absences or events
  • Investigate complaints related to safeguarding, abuse or delivery and ensure notifications and duty of candour are sent to the right parties
