About the Role
As our Chef/cook, you will play an important part in daily life at the service by preparing balanced, enjoyable meals that meet a variety of dietary needs and personal preferences. You will work closely with support staff and clients to plan menus that promote choice, independence, and dignity.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare high‑quality, nutritious meals for our clients each day
- Plan weekly menus with input from clients and staff
- Cater for individual dietary requirements, allergies, and cultural needs
- Maintain excellent hygiene standards and ensure full compliance with food safety regulations
- Manage kitchen stock, ordering, and budget awareness alongside the registered manager
- Support clients to participate in simple cooking activities where appropriate
- Good cooking skills
- Ability to organise a catering environment
- Basic administrative skills, carry out menu planning and complete catering auditing and other relevant documentation
- Knowledge on Food and Hygiene regulations
- Understanding of Health and Safety regulations including COSHH regulations
- Good spoken communication skills to relate well to clients, staff and visitors
- Basic written communication skills to leave written instructions and to follow a stock control system
- Must be able to demonstrate an understanding and awareness of Equality & Diversity
- Ability to work flexibly, responding to the needs of the service
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in cooking for groups (care settings experience beneficial but not essential)
- Person‑centred, patient, and respectful
- Able to work independently and as part of a friendly team
- Knowledgeable about food hygiene (Level 2 Food Hygiene required or willingness to obtain)
- Passionate about making mealtimes enjoyable and inclusive
Working Hours
20 hours per week, 4 hours per day, across 5 days, working alternate weekends.
