A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance Director to join a dynamic and rapidly growing construction business based in Chorley. This is a pivotal, board-level role offering the chance to shape the financial strategy of a business with ambitious growth plans. You’ll work closely with the Managing Director and senior leadership team, providing commercial insight, driving performance, and ensuring the business is well-positioned for continued expansion.

As Finance Director, you will take full ownership of the finance function while acting as a strategic partner to the wider business. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the financial strategy and long-term planning of the business
  • Delivering robust financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Providing commercial insight to support decision-making and growth
  • Overseeing cash flow management, working capital, and funding requirements
  • Driving profitability and cost control across projects and operations
  • Developing and improving financial systems, processes, and controls
  • Leading and developing the finance team
  • Acting as a key liaison with external stakeholders, including auditors, banks, and advisors
  • Supporting potential investment, funding, or exit strategies

We’re looking for a commercially focused, hands-on Finance Director who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment:

  • Fully qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
  • Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role (FD or Head of Finance level)
  • Background in construction, engineering, or project-based environments is highly desirable
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence at board level
  • Experience managing cash flow, project profitability, and growth strategy
  • A hands-on approach with the ability to operate both strategically and operationally
  • Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills
