Location: Kirkham

Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 (depending on experience)

We are a well-established construction company based in Kirkham, and we are looking for a confident and detail-focused Accounts Assistant to support our busy finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in finance who is looking to develop their skills within a thriving and supportive environment.

What you will be doing:

  • Accurately process supplier invoices, ensuring timely data entry and coding
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and investigate discrepancies where needed
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to resolve payment and invoice queries promptly
  • Process subcontractor applications in line with internal approval workflows
  • Review and submit on-site labour timesheets for sign-off
  • Prepare and process weekly payments to labour-only subcontractors
  • Assist with weekly and/or monthly payroll processing
  • Set up and maintain accurate records of suppliers and subcontractors in our Construction Manager system
  • Monitor and reconcile staff expenses and company credit card usage
  • Manage the internal approval process for all supplier invoices
  • Keep the Accounts Manual up to date with current procedures
  • Reconcile supplier statements and follow up on outstanding balances
  • Provide general administrative support including document filing and archiving

What we are looking for:

  • Experience in a similar accounts role, ideally within the construction sector
  • Familiarity with CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) is preferred, but not essential
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships
  • Comfortable using accounting and construction-related systems (experience with Construction Manager is an advantage)
  • A proactive, organised, and adaptable approach to work
