About the role:
Reporting to the Director, Data Analytics & Media Intelligence, the Media Analyst plays a significant role in preparing media coverage analysis reports for clients — including understanding client needs, designing reporting approaches, coordinating execution, reviewing work, and delivering polished final products. This role combines analytical skill, editorial judgment, project ownership, and client-facing communication. The successful candidate will be able to understand assigned client accounts, ask thoughtful questions, respond professionally to feedback or concerns, and help translate media coverage data into clear, useful insights. Technical skills can be developed through training, but strong communication, ownership, judgment, curiosity, and composure under pressure are essential.
What you’ll do
- Media Monitoring and Analysis: Develop expertise in Agility’s platforms and related tools to monitor and evaluate media coverage across print, online, broadcast, blogs, and social media. Analyse media coverage using both quantitative and qualitative methods, including tagging, sentiment analysis, data cleaning, trend identification, narrative synthesis, and validation of automated outputs. Create executive-ready reports with clear writing, intuitive data visualizations, practical insight, and careful attention to accuracy, balance, and evidence.
- Client Understanding and Communication: Develop a strong working understanding of assigned client accounts, including their priorities, reporting goals, recurring sensitivities, and communication preferences. Ask thoughtful questions to clarify client needs and translate those needs into practical, repeatable reporting approaches and quality criteria. Communicate with clients through appropriate channels in a clear, professional, and consultative manner. Respond promptly to client questions, feedback, concerns, or complaints with maturity, calmness, and good judgment, escalating when needed.
- Project and Portfolio Management: Manage a portfolio of recurring and ad hoc client reports, ensuring work is delivered on time and meets quality standards. Coordinate the full report lifecycle, including data gathering, preparation, analysis, review, and delivery. Balance multiple deadlines and competing priorities while maintaining strong attention to detail. Identify risks early, escalate appropriately, and seek guidance or second opinions when needed. Document report processes clearly so that work can be repeated, reviewed, backed up, and improved over time.
- Collaboration, Tools, and Process Improvement: Collaborate constructively with Canadian analysts, Philippine analysts, Client Success colleagues, designers, team leads, and other internal stakeholders. Review work completed by colleagues and provide clear, respectful, actionable feedback. Help team members understand client context, reporting expectations, data requirements, writing standards, and presentation needs. Use Excel, PowerPoint, Agility platforms, and other approved tools to improve speed, accuracy, consistency, and quality. Learn, apply, and critically evaluate approved AI-assisted tools and workflows to improve efficiency and quality while ensuring outputs are accurate and well supported. Support training, documentation, and process improvement efforts as needed.
What You'll Bring
- Communication, Judgment, and Client Readiness: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex ideas clearly and concisely. Professional maturity and sound judgment in client-facing situations, including when responding to questions, feedback, concerns, or complaints. Ability to stay calm, constructive, and solution-oriented under deadline pressure or in sensitive client situations. Strong ability to ask thoughtful questions, clarify goals, and translate client needs into practical next steps. Comfort communicating with clients and internal stakeholders through email, phone, and video.
- Analytical and Editorial Strength: Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret data, identify meaningful patterns, and connect findings to client goals. Strong writing and editing skills, with careful attention to accuracy, tone, structure, and nuance. Ability to distinguish between what the data shows, what can reasonably be inferred, and what should not be overstated. Interest in news, public relations, communications, social media, and digital analytics.
- Organization, Ownership, and Learning Mindset: Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimal supervision. Reliable follow-through, strong attention to detail, and a high standard for client-ready work. Ability to identify risks early, communicate clearly, and escalate appropriately when something may affect quality, timing, or client expectations. Willingness to seek feedback, learn from revisions, and continuously improve. Willingness to occasionally support urgent client needs or time-sensitive global collaboration outside regular working hours, with the understanding that this should be limited and exceptional.
- Experience and Technical Proficiency: Experience in media analysis, data analysis, market research, digital marketing, journalism, public relations, communications, media monitoring, or a related field is an asset. Prior experience working with clients or external stakeholders is strongly preferred. A degree or diploma in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Market Research, Data Analytics, Business, Social Sciences, or a related field is beneficial, but not if the candidate has relevant experience and skills. Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint. Comfort learning new software platforms, adapting to new workflows, and using approved tools — including AI-assisted tools — to improve speed, accuracy, consistency, or quality. Basic understanding of statistics, data quality, and data visualization principles.
- Desirable Skills: Experience with media monitoring, social listening, Boolean search, or PR measurement. French-language skills.
