Cost Estimator

Agilité is looking for a cost estimator – an organised and diligent professional that will drive quality across their segment of the company. The role will assist the team on mid-to-large-scale projects in collaboration with our subcontractors and our clients (sectors: office & retail). This position is multifaceted; the successful candidate will work with the pre-construction director and project management teams on pre-conception of our projects before they go live.

Key Responsibilities.

• Identify and quantify the costs and activities required for all works included in the specifications and bills of quantities (considering production time, materials and labour)
• Analyse the legal, technical and financial risks of a project
• Research and propose technical and economic solutions
• Select companies and propose partnerships, managing all communications and relations with technical and purchasing departments, both internal and external
• Evaluate the profitability and viability of projects, making recommendations to the delivery team
• Participate in the preliminary financial phase of projects
• Consult with suppliers: organise and analyse offers
• Manage preliminary and resource costs – while also having good knowledge of the project contractual terms – is key, as is the capability and confidence to predict and identify future risks or opportunities and associated costs/revenues,
• Take ownership to maintain our profitability by allocating budgets for each element of a construction project, while also supervising any changes to the financial aspects of ongoing deliveries
• Participate in monthly reporting on the project financial position
• Assist in order management with subcontractors.
• Promote a strong safety culture across projects by proactively identifying risks and supporting the implementation of appropriate preventive measures.
• Verify that all project activities are carried out in accordance with applicable health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Technical skills.

• Knowledge of local regulations and supply chain;
• Able to critically analyse project documentation;
• Able to work independently, handling your own time and work;
• Ability and experience on construction and architectural projects;
• Negotiation and management;
• Knowledge and experience of construction site phases;
• Knowledge and experience of occupational and site safety processes;

Qualifications.

• Architect, Engineer or Quantity Surveyor, or studies in business school, specialising in the construction sector;
• At least 5 years’ experience as a cost estimator in the construction sector;
