Agilis Search is proud to be partnering with a highly reputable business in Bury St Edmunds who are looking to appoint a Head of IT on a permanent basis. As an experienced IT operations leader, you will take ownership of business-critical technology services across the organisation. The successful person will be a visible and approachable leader who enjoys balancing strategic thinking with hands-on IT operational management. You’ll be comfortable working closely with senior stakeholders, leading technical teams, and ensuring a consistently high level of service across the organisation. This opportunity would suit someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, enjoys solving problems, and can confidently manage both day-to-day operational issues and longer-term improvement projects.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading, mentoring, and developing an IT support and infrastructure team
- Overseeing infrastructure, networks, security, hardware, and end-user technology services
- Ensuring high levels of system availability, reliability, and user satisfaction
- Managing support for devices, connectivity, printers, collaboration tools, and business systems
- Acting as the key IT contact for business stakeholders and external partners
- Building strong relationships with vendors and internal teams
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and operational Best Practice
- Managing and improving support processes, SLAs, and operational performance metrics
- Managing budgets, resources, and IT governance requirements
- Driving service excellence and resolving escalated technical issues when needed
What they’re looking for:
- Proven experience leading IT operations or infrastructure teams
- Experience of working within a broad enterprise technology environment covering Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory/Azure AD, virtualised infrastructure, enterprise networking, cyber security, endpoint management, cloud collaboration tools, mobile device management, and IT service management platforms
- A hands-on leadership style with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience working within complex technology environments
- A proactive mindset with a focus on service quality and continuous improvement
- A proactive and solutions-focused mindset
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
- Experience managing suppliers, third parties, and service delivery
- A collaborative leadership style with the ability to motivate and develop teams
- A calm and practical approach to problem-solving and escalation management
