The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an experienced
Quality Control Inspector to join a growing engineering business in Aberdeen.
This is a hands‑on quality role supporting machine shop and wider operational activities, ensuring that machined components, incoming materials, equipment and finished products meet the required engineering specifications and quality standards.
The successful candidate will have a strong eye for detail, be confident reading engineering drawings and technical specifications, and have practical experience using dimensional inspection and measuring equipment within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Shop & Component Inspection
- Carry out detailed dimensional inspections of machined components against engineering drawings, specifications and defined tolerances.
- Perform sample checks and verify completed components prior to release.
- Identify and report any non-conforming components or materials.
- Incoming Materials & Parts
- Inspect incoming raw materials, components and parts to ensure conformity with specified requirements.
- Verify supporting documentation, part numbers and Certificates of Conformance (COCs).
- Ensure appropriate material identification and traceability is maintained.
- Equipment & Asset Inspection
- Carry out quality inspections on new equipment and assets.
- Verify documentation, certification and component identification.
- Conduct dimensional and sample inspections where required.
- Support the inspection of rental equipment returned from offshore operations.
- Measurement & Calibration
- Monitor and maintain calibration schedules for measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
- Ensure measuring equipment remains accurate, appropriately controlled and compliant with relevant standards.
- Quality & Compliance
- Assist with Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), quality investigations and associated corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate inspection and quality records.
- Ensure appropriate storage and handling procedures are followed for raw materials and finished products.
- Support continued compliance with the company's Quality Management System and relevant ISO standards.
Experience & Skills
We are looking for candidates with
- Previous
Quality Control / Quality Inspection experience within a manufacturing, machining or engineering environment.
- Experience inspecting machined components and engineering materials .
- Strong understanding of dimensional inspection techniques and measuring equipment.
- Ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and technical specifications .
- Knowledge of calibration requirements and measurement control.
- Familiarity with ISO standards and Quality Management Systems.
- Experience supporting NCRs and quality investigations.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspection.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications
- HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline would be advantageous, although relevant practical inspection experience will also be considered.
Desirable
- Experience inspecting equipment used within the offshore energy sector.
- Previous experience with rental equipment returned from offshore operations.
- Familiarity with
NS-2 and/or DS-1 standards.
- Forklift Licence – B1 minimum.
- Gantry Crane Operator certification.
