Deputy Director, Portfolio Office to lead a high-performing Portfolio Office function within a major, complex transformation environment.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for an accomplished portfolio and transformation professional with extensive experience overseeing large-scale change portfolios and driving organisational transformation.

About the Role
As Deputy Director of the Portfolio Office, you will provide strategic leadership across a complex portfolio of transformation programmes, ensuring effective governance, prioritisation, risk management, benefits realisation, and resource planning.
You will play a critical role in establishing and maintaining world-class portfolio, programme, and project management standards while partnering with senior stakeholders to drive successful delivery of strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a mature Portfolio Office function supporting enterprise-wide transformation initiatives.
- Provide strategic oversight of portfolio governance, controls, reporting, assurance, and benefits management.
- Establish and maintain best practice portfolio, programme, and project management (P3M) standards.
- Ensure effective portfolio prioritisation aligned to organisational objectives.
- Oversee portfolio-level financial management, forecasting, resource planning, and performance reporting.
- Provide expert guidance and support across programme and project delivery teams.
- Build strong relationships with executive stakeholders, providing challenge, insight, and strategic advice.
- Drive continuous improvement across portfolio management frameworks, processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Lead and develop high-performing transformation and portfolio management teams.
- Ensure effective management of risks, dependencies, and delivery outcomes across a complex change portfolio.
- Required Experience
- Significant senior leadership experience within a large-scale transformation or change environment.
- Proven track record leading complex portfolios of programmes and projects.
- Experience influencing, negotiating, and challenging executive and board-level stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of portfolio, programme, and project management disciplines.
- Experience managing commercial relationships and working across complex supplier ecosystems.
- Demonstrable success building and leading transformation teams within large organisations.
- Experience implementing robust governance, assurance, financial controls, and benefits realisation frameworks.
