Accessibility Tester

Role Overview: Join our clients dynamic team to ensure digital services comply with accessibility standards, making them inclusive for all users, including those with disabilities. You will play a critical role in evaluating and improving the accessibility of GOV.UK digital services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compliance Testing: Ensure adherence to WCAG 2.2 AA/AAA and Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations 2018.
  • Assistive Technology Testing: Test compatibility with screen readers and other assistive technologies.
  • Audit & Evaluation: Conduct audits using automated and manual tools to assess accessibility compliance.
  • Issue Documentation & Remediation: Document issues, provide remediation guidance, and analyze root causes.
  • User Testing: Conduct user testing with individuals who have access needs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest accessibility standards, tools, and technologies.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with accessibility testing tools (Axe, WAVE, Lighthouse, NVDA/JAWS).
  • Experience in automated and manual accessibility audits.
  • Knowledge of HTML, ARIA, CSS, and JavaScript best practices.
  • Understanding of inclusive design principles.
  • Experience with WCAG guidelines and government digital accessibility standards.
  • Agile methodology experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPACC, WAS, or other recognized accessibility certifications.
  • Security Clearance (BPSS and/or SC) or willingness to undergo clearance.
  • Experience in UK public sector engagements.
  • Familiarity with the GDS design system and user research methodologies.
  • Experience with AI-powered accessibility testing tools.
  • Knowledge of mobile accessibility testing for iOS and Android applications
