Ocho is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to join its Belfast office, offering a flexible hybrid work model. As a key member of the Portal Reports and Insights application team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining distributed, fault-tolerant systems that support the company's global reporting infrastructure. These systems process nearly 10,000 automated reports weekly, serving a diverse client base across multiple continents. You will take ownership of complex technical initiatives, providing architectural guidance and leading end-to-end delivery. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence system architecture at a large scale, mentor engineering talent, and contribute to a product used by some of the world's leading retail brands.

Qualifications

• The ideal candidate will possess over 7 years of experience in building and supporting scalable, distributed systems, with a strong background in open-source tools.
• Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages such as Java and C++, along with scripting languages like Python or Ruby, is essential.
• Experience with complex SQL queries, particularly with PostgreSQL, is required.
• Familiarity with API frameworks such as Spring Boot and cloud platforms, especially AWS, is highly desirable.
• Prior leadership or mentoring experience is necessary to ensure effective guidance within the team.
• Additional skills in AWS services like CloudFormation, EMR, S3, EC2, and CloudTrail, as well as data visualization tools such as D3.js, Tableau, or Looker, are considered advantageous.
• A proactive attitude towards technical innovation and team collaboration is vital for success in this role.
