About The Company

At Expedia Group, we help travelers explore the world, one journey at a time. As a global travel company, we connect travelers, partners, and advertisers through our consumer brands, business-to-business network, and travel advertising business. Our brands include Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo, and our technology supports travel experiences for millions of people worldwide.

We are guided by five Behaviors: Traveler First, Think Big, Operate with Excellence, Ownership Mindset, and Succeed Together. These principles help us create a supportive environment where people can grow, collaborate, and do meaningful work.

About The Role

Expedia Group is seeking an Android Software Engineer to join our Search and Recommendations Experience team in London, UK. In this full-time role, you will help build and improve native mobile experiences used by travelers across Expedia Group brands. You will contribute to a large-scale platform and develop thoughtful, reliable features that make travel shopping easier and more engaging.

You will take ownership of engineering work from early design through release and ongoing production support. Working with product managers, designers, and engineers, you will turn customer and business needs into well-designed mobile solutions. The role also offers opportunities to work with AI- and machine-learning-enabled experiences, such as personalization and recommendations, with care for privacy, security, and responsible data use.

Responsibilities

Build, enhance, and maintain Android applications using Kotlin and a strong understanding of the Android platform, user interface components, and mobile design patterns. Create clear, testable, and maintainable low-level designs, APIs, and data models, and integrate mobile features with backend services and shared platforms.

Estimate engineering effort, break down requirements, and deliver work iteratively while keeping traveler needs at the center. Write and review code, develop unit and user interface tests, and participate in continuous integration and delivery practices. Help maintain application quality by investigating production issues and improving performance, reliability, and security.

Collaborate across disciplines and teams, communicate progress and trade-offs, and contribute to technical discussions and code reviews. Apply suitable AI/ML concepts and tools to real product needs, and support responsible implementation that respects privacy and security standards. Adapt your skills to work across product areas, services, and shared mobile components as priorities evolve.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience in professional software development, is required. You should have experience building and shipping production Android applications with Kotlin, including ownership of features or services in a larger mobile application.

You will bring the ability to design mobile solutions, APIs, and data models, and experience working with service-oriented or microservices-based backends. Proficiency with version control, debugging, testing, performance optimization, and continuous integration or delivery is expected. Familiarity with Jetpack libraries, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines or Flows, Android Studio, and Gradle is beneficial. Experience with mobile profiling, accessibility, Agile collaboration, and AI-enabled products or workflows is also valued.

Benefits

Expedia Group offers a supportive environment focused on helping employees do their best work and grow their careers. Employees can access company benefits, flexibility, and resources designed to support wellbeing and professional development. Specific benefits and eligibility may vary by location and employment terms.
