The Woodland Trust is seeking a skilled Dynamics 365 Developer to help develop, support and improve the technology that enables our work for woods, trees, people and nature. This is a full-time, two-year fixed-term contract based at our head office in Grantham, Lincolnshire, with a hybrid approach to working. You will typically attend the office around once a month, with the remainder of your work split between home and the office as appropriate.

About The Company

The Woodland Trust is the UK's largest woodland conservation charity. Our vision is a world where woods and trees thrive for people and nature. We work to protect and restore existing woodland, create new woodland and encourage more trees to be planted. Through this work, we engage and inspire people to make a difference for the natural environment and the communities that depend on it.

About The Role

As a Dynamics 365 Developer within our Business Applications Management team, you will play a key part in the development and ongoing support of the Trust’s Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement and Power Platform estate. You will work with colleagues, users and third-party suppliers to ensure our applications are reliable, well governed and able to evolve with organisational needs.

A central focus of the role will be building internal technical ownership. You will help suppliers transfer knowledge, documentation and deployment processes to the internal team, supporting a sustainable approach to managing our systems. You will also contribute to solution design, testing, release planning and production deployments, balancing technical quality with the needs of users and the organisation.

Qualifications

You will bring practical experience developing and supporting Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement and Power Platform solutions. Strong technical knowledge across Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, C#, .NET, JavaScript and Azure DevOps is important, including experience with pipeline management and deployment.

You should have experience contributing to solution design, technical documentation, release management and governance. You will understand how to manage a combination of managed and unmanaged solutions and custom applications within a single implementation. Knowledge of data quality, migration and integration considerations in enterprise CRM platforms is also required.

A degree-level qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline is desirable, or you can demonstrate equivalent professional experience. Microsoft Power Platform or Dynamics 365 certifications are also relevant. We welcome candidates who can show how their skills and experience meet the requirements, whether gained through formal education, certification or practical work.

Responsibilities

Develop, enhance and support Dynamics 365 and Power Platform solutions, helping ensure applications meet business requirements and provide a dependable experience for users. Work collaboratively with internal colleagues and third-party suppliers to plan and deliver technical improvements, resolve issues and strengthen the Trust’s ability to manage its own systems.

Produce and maintain clear, high-quality technical documentation, development standards and operating procedures. Support knowledge transfer and establish effective processes for technical ownership, solution management and deployment. Contribute to solution design and governance, paying attention to application structure, data quality, migration and integration needs.

Support user acceptance testing, coordinate release planning and assist with production deployments. Use Azure DevOps pipelines and deployment practices to help deliver changes safely and consistently. Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, keeping colleagues informed about changes, risks and operational considerations.

Benefits

We take good care of our staff and offer support and opportunities for training and development. Benefits include an enhanced employer pension, life assurance, flexible and hybrid working options, and working hours that can be arranged between 7am and 7pm. You will also receive 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, pro rata for part-time arrangements, access to a buy-and-sell holiday scheme and an employee assistance programme.

The selection process includes an initial telephone interview followed by a second-stage interview via Teams. We may close the advert early if we receive a high volume of applications, so we encourage you to apply promptly. Candidates may use AI tools to support their applications; however, interview responses are expected to be given independently without AI assistance.

Equal Opportunity

The Woodland Trust is committed to diversity and inclusion. To achieve our mission, we need to better reflect society and the communities in which we work. People of colour and disabled people are currently under-represented across the environment and conservation sector, and we welcome applications from people who can bring a range of experiences and perspectives to our organisation.
