Location: Remote, UK-based candidates only. Contract: Initial six-month engagement, outside IR35, with the possibility of extension.
Tenth Revolution Group is supporting a consulting client that is partnering with a leading financial services organisation. The organisation is seeking an experienced AWS Data Engineer to help build and enhance a cloud-based data platform. This contract offers the opportunity to contribute to modern data engineering initiatives, develop scalable data solutions and collaborate with specialists across technology and business teams.
About The Company
Tenth Revolution Group connects technology professionals with organisations seeking specialist expertise. For this opportunity, the Group is working with a consulting client delivering services to a leading financial services organisation. The end client is investing in its cloud-based data platform and requires an engineer who can help strengthen its data capabilities. The project brings together cloud infrastructure, data engineering and modern analytics technologies in a professional, stakeholder-focused environment.
About The Role
As an AWS Data Engineer, you will design, develop and improve the data pipelines, transformations and cloud-native solutions that support the organisation’s data platform. You will use AWS technologies alongside Python, DBT and PySpark to process and model data efficiently. The role also involves orchestration, data warehousing, modern data lake architecture and automated delivery practices. You will work closely with technical colleagues and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver reliable, maintainable data products. This is a remote contract for candidates based in the UK, initially for six months, with the possibility of extension. The engagement is outside IR35.
Qualifications
Applicants should bring strong, hands-on AWS data engineering experience and a proven ability to develop production-quality solutions using Python. You should have practical expertise with DBT and PySpark, as well as experience orchestrating data workflows with Apache Airflow. Strong knowledge of Amazon Redshift and familiarity with Apache Iceberg and modern data lake architectures are important. Experience with OpenSearch, knowledge graph technologies and semantic data modelling will also be valuable. You should be comfortable working with CI/CD pipelines, ideally using CircleCI, and able to communicate technical ideas clearly to colleagues and stakeholders.
Experience in financial services, banking or another regulated environment is desirable, as is knowledge of data governance and data quality practices. Candidates should be organised, collaborative and attentive to the reliability, performance and maintainability of the solutions they build.
Responsibilities
You will design and develop scalable data pipelines and ETL processes, building cloud-native data solutions on AWS that support the platform’s needs. You will create and optimise data models and transformations using DBT and PySpark, and contribute to effective orchestration of workflows with Apache Airflow. You will work with Amazon Redshift and modern data lake technologies, applying sound engineering practices to improve performance, usability and reliability. You will automate testing and deployments through CI/CD pipelines, helping maintain consistent and dependable releases. In partnership with stakeholders and technical teams, you will clarify requirements, address data challenges and deliver high-quality data products. You will also contribute to good data quality and governance practices appropriate to the project.
Benefits
This opportunity offers a remote working arrangement for UK-based contractors, an initial six-month contract outside IR35 and the possibility of extension.
You will have the chance to apply modern AWS data engineering skills on a cloud platform initiative for a leading financial services organisation, working through a consulting engagement with Tenth Revolution Group.
Equal Opportunity
Tenth Revolution Group is committed to fair and inclusive recruitment. Applicants will be considered on their skills, experience and suitability for the role. We welcome applications from qualified candidates regardless of background or identity, in accordance with applicable equality and employment requirements.
