THE COMPANY: AGI Sport is a professional motor racing team currently competing in Formula 4 motor racing championships in Australia, Asia, and the UAE with an expansion into LMP level Sports Car Endurance racing expected (UAE) from 2027.
THE ROLE: AGI Sport is looking for an experienced Chief Mechanic to join our successful Formula 4 race team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be required to attend all test and race events around the globe from January to December each year from our base at Sydney Motorsport Park (Australia).
ABOUT THE ROLE: As Chief Mechanic, you will be responsible for leading the mechanical preparation, build quality and track side roll out of all racing vehicles under the AGI Sport banner. You will direct all race team mechanics and garage staff, collaborate closely with the engineering staff, and ensure every mechanical component is built, fitted and verified to the highest possible standard. This is a leadership role in the workshop and garage at the track. Your standards relate to the car’s performance.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING AT AGI:
- Supervising all mechanics and supporting their progression.
- Leading the build and mechanical preparation of all team racing vehicles.
- Ensuring that all work is completed as per the Race Engineers requirements before each test or race event.
- Managing mechanical repairs, assembly of the racing vehicles and fault rectification often under time constraints.
- Working directly with the Senior Race Engineer to instruct our race mechanics to carry out setup changes prior to and during test sessions and race events.
- Maintain a tidy and organised workshop.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO AGI:
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience as a professional in motorsport.
- Strong mechanical experience in motorsport but in particular, hands-on experience with the 2015 model Mygale / Ford M14-F4 (1st Generation) F4 car and 2022 model Tatuus / Abarth F4-T421 (2nd Generation) F4 cars.
- Can demonstrate basic computer skills and experience in Microsoft office products.
- Leadership capability and the ability to maintain a calm authority under pressure.
- Strong communication skills when dealing with mechanics, engineers and management.
- The ability to work long hours, travel globally and deliver to consistently high standards.
